Join the Space Consortium: Uniting Space Enthusiasts & Experts
Founded at Harvard in 2017, The Space Consortium has grown into a statewide grassroots initiative leading cross-sector space collaboration and outreach across the Northeast.
We partner with over 200 institutions, including 30+ K–12 schools, 50+ public libraries, 35+ space companies, and more than 100 academic, national, and international space organizations.
Our network of 100+ space experts statewide helps connect communities to free, year-round space programming

Founded in Fall 2017 with the support of the Harvard Provost Office, the Space Consortium is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and dynamic community initiative based in Massachusetts, aimed at fostering collaboration and innovation in space research and outreach. Originally a collaborative effort between Harvard and MIT faculty, it now engages over 1,700 affiliates across the US, including students, faculty, alumni, and space enthusiasts.

What is Massachusetts Space Week, Organized by The Space Consortium?
The Space Consortium organizes a series of space education & outreach initiatives, including MA Space Week, to help democratize space knowledge and connect MA-based space experts and enthusiasts with each other and with the public. Supported by the Massachusetts Space Grant and motivated by the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, Massachusetts Space Week stands as a testament to grassroots collaboration & community effort among space experts across the state, aiming to make space science accessible to all. This annual, week-long celebration seeks to bridge the gap between academia and the broader community and to foster a shared enthusiasm for space science. Through engaging events such as a Space Film Festival, a Space Career Fair, and more than 100 space events statewide, The Space Consortium invites you to join this dedicated effort to connect the academic world with the wider community.
