About the Space Consortium

The Space Consortium works to expand access to space knowledge and opportunity. By connecting educators, researchers, companies, and communities, we aim to build a more collaborative and inclusive space ecosystem throughout Massachusetts and beyond.
We champion interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary space collaboration, research, and outreach, using space to spark learning, expand community access to STEM, and support science policy initiatives

To serve as an academic hub for multidisciplinary space research and public engagement, facilitating connections and resource sharing among academics, professionals, and the public.

Founded at Harvard in 2017, The Space Consortium has grown into a statewide grassroots initiative leading cross-sector space collaboration and outreach across the Northeast.
We partner with over 200 institutions, including 30+ K–12 schools, 50+ public libraries, 35+ space companies, and more than 100 academic, national, and international space organizations.
Our network of 100+ space experts statewide helps connect communities to free, year-round space programming

Founded in Fall 2017 with the support of the Harvard Provost Office, the Space Consortium is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization and dynamic community initiative based in Massachusetts, aimed at fostering collaboration and innovation in space research and outreach. Originally a collaborative effort between Harvard and MIT faculty, it now engages over 1,700 affiliates across the US, including students, faculty, alumni, and space enthusiasts.
